Otterman speaks…

…about macs, web2.0, cats, cycling, teaching, natural history and life in Singapore.

Greetings earthling!

Posted by otterman on 10 January 2008

I shifted over after making my last post at the old site – the server even resisted that post, sigh!

That original site Otterman speaks…(2003-2007) will be left at http://oldblog.sivasothi.com. I won’t import the old posts unless I can find a smart way to do that.

This new blog can also be bookmarked as blog.sivasothi.com, in case I ever shift again in future. The RSS feed is feeds.feedburner.com/OttermanSpeaks.

  1. i will miss the cheery yellow site that has been the landmark in my blogging world since 2003! Without that cheery yellow site I probably would have never eventually become a “hardcore” blogger. Probably still whinging away on my personal xanga blog. lol cheers to the move!

btw, if i click on oldblog.sivasothi.com, i get your index page. if i click on blog.sivasothi.com – i end up on the old site! hmmm get that checked?

  4. Hi Siva
Welcome to WordPress. It is not bad. It has a few iniquities that will become evident over time. For example, I find that its WYSIWG post editor works much better on a PC :P

If you have not as yet imported your old posts from the previous blog WordPress does have an excellent import tool. If it does not allow you to import your old posts from your own host then consider republishing your blog to blogspot.com and them importing that blog into WordPress.

All the best with the new blog!

    Cheers

    John

    Thanks John!

I actually started using WordPress a year ago for my Götheborg stint – gotheborg.wordpress.com (Dec 2006).

I was using it on a browser and with Ecto then; decided to experiment with the WordPress feel. In the end it is the requirement for pages that decides if a blog uses WordPress or Blogger. Many do, but I am not enthusiastic about so many migrations! Next one that might have to go will probably be the cycling blog.
