After updating the dates on last year’s page, I had a place holder for the Pasir Panjang Hertiage Trail’s Heritage Fest event, or 2008: Ver 1.
Just now I dumped the content into a Rapidweaver 3.5 template to “improve” the site. Unfortunately I had to dump the Habitatnews subscription form as it seemed to wreak havoc.
I also still need to edit the home page text to fit this year’s theme but Kenneth will pass that to me next week. Then we’ll just have to check for browser compatibility and other errors. And maybe add a more prominent Heritage Fest pointer.
This site will just need minor tweaking in subsequent years. I have a version 3 which is currently duplicated in the home folder URL but I’ll go with this v2, I think.
Then hope we remember to open registration (!) and call for a guide briefing just before.
I arrived at my kaki’s new place to find them engrossed in watching “Untraceable,” a movie that IMDB only rates as 6.0. IMDB is usualy reliable and I hate watching a movie when I’ve missed the opening so I opted to use her son’s new HP laptop. Finding myself confronted with Vista and the blue ‘E’ I whipped out my old Iomega 1GB thumb drive which resides in my wallet’s coin compartmen and visited Portable Apps.
The site has a pretty impressive lineup including Firefox’s 3.0 release 2. It’s the first thing I downloaded and installed before grabbing VLC (video), Thunderbird (IMAP access to NUS email; POP Gmail) and Pidgin (for IM). It’s worked very well; I realised these days, a lot of data I need is already online and linked. So it’s possible to be functioning on a Vista laptop in minutes!
Now to go play with the dog.
