Murphy and Voris describe a third genus and new species of fangless homalopsid snakes from Sumatra, Indonesia and its called Karnsophis siantaris, after Daryl Karns! [Murphy, J. C., H. K. Etymology – “Named in honor of Daryl R. Karns for his contributions to homalopsid snake biology.”

Harold, who sent us the pdf, says of Daryl who passed away quite suddenly in 2011,

“I expect that this would have pleased him a great deal and he would have loved the CT scans – – a new technology applied to homalopsids!”
