Dengue clusters – inching towards the south west?

When two or more dengue cases occur within 14 days and victim homes are within 150m, the area is declared a dengue cluster. Dengue clusters have been closing in on the south-west of Singapore.

NUS is happily clear right now. To be aware of the situation in August, when undergrads return to campus, I’ve subscribed to alerts at x-dengue.com, and included several field sites we will use or practicals in the various modules I run. There is an iPhone App which I’ve downloaded too. Certainly useful!

“Change Case” – an OS X Service to change upper case text to mixed or lowercase

Upper case text is quite unreadable so when I do copy text to use in a blog post or share such as an article title, I covert it to lower case.

I don’t have to manually do this but instead can highlight the text and visit the Apple > Services menu. Residing in my Services menu are text change options inserted by Ron Fleckner’s Change Case.

In this case below, I chose Word Capitals, which converted

“LAW N° 57/2008 OF 10/09/2008 RELATING TO THE PROHIBITION OF MANUFACTURING, IMPORTATION, USE AND SALE OF POLYTHENE BAGS IN RWANDA”

to

“Law N° 57/2008 Of 10/09/2008 Relating To The Prohibition Of Manufacturing, Importation, Use And Sale Of Polythene Bags In Rwanda” – much more readable!

For this functionality, you need to:

1. Download Change Case [or here],
2. install the downloaded file into your System Library/Services folder or your home Library/Services folder,
3. Log out and log back in to get the System to recognise the new Service.

And yes, Rwanda banned plastic bags and is enforcing the law. If you visit, remember, its contraband!
